Entities

The Net Purpose dataset is an entity-level dataset (as opposed to a security-level one). Entities in the Net Purpose universe are currently listed companies, but in the future could include green bonds, private enterprises and other organisation types.

We model each entity as a reporting entity, intended to remain stable through legal transformations such as re-listing on a new exchange or acquisition.

TableOne-line description
entitiesOne row per entity: name, identifiers, classifications and reporting schedule
entities_data_coverageWhich Net Purpose datasets cover each entity
entity_identifiersExternal security identifiers (ISIN, CUSIP, PermID etc.) per entity

For every entity we also provide entity_identifiers — the securities and security codes (e.g. ISIN, CUSIP, PermID) that map to it. For corporate structures we walk up the ownership tree to a public parent entity, so that securities issued by private subsidiaries (for debt issuance, for example) still resolve to a covered entity.
